At the Nambale Magnet School, emphasis on widening an understanding of the world is important.
Many of these students, prior to their entry into the Nambale Magnet School, have not lived with electricity or even owned a pair of shoes.
Each year a field trip is planned that widens the children’s worldview. This year the children took a trip to the nearest populated area, the town of Mbita Point on the shore of Lake Victoria. While there, they visited another school, an insect research center and a mausoleum of a very historic Kenyan figure.
The children took a bus and then a Ferry for an over night trip. Imagine the wonder in the eyes of these children as they saw a ferry for the first time, at a restaurant, and more “firsts” than any of them had ever had. The children were delighted by their trip and they want to return next year.
Previous field trips have included visiting an airport to see airplanes and other novel experiences for these lucky children!
