He came to the school with one set of clothing and the hopes of his extended family that the educational opportunity at NMS would enable him to do more with his life than be a manual laborer which was his current expected life path.
Through Albert's education at NMS it became apparent that he had an incredible ability to learn and loved school. He was a leader on the sports field, in the student body, and a leader of student devotions.
As a member of the Pioneer Class, the very first group of students at the Nambale Magnet School, the group that began their education in 2009, he was part of a grand experiment.
That experiment hoped to put fee-paying students from affluent families together with the most impoverished students in Kenya and see if they could support each other and take advantage of the outstanding educational opportunity at NMS.
In 4th grade, when Al participated in NMS' first county-wide mid-level exams, he was one of the top scorers in the county. Something no one ever hoped for a child from such an impoverished background.
When Albert went home during the school holiday breaks to be with his family, they were amazed at his ability to speak, his ability to read, and his skill with mathematics.
By the time he took his final exams at the end of eighth grade, he was the top student in Busia County, and an outstanding speaker completely committed to supporting the Nambale Magnet School in his future life.
As the featured speaker at the first graduation ceremony, as a grade 8 student, he said that a portion of his earnings for the rest of his life would be sent to NMS as thank you for what he had gained.
He was admitted to and attended one of the top secondary schools in the country, the New Light Academy in Nairobi, as a fully supported student.
In the spring of 2020, he was invited to attend Yale University's New Haven Connecticut international student summer program. Unfortunately, this program was canceled because of the COVID crisis. He would have attended this program between his Junior and Senior years.
Having graduated New Light Academy in 2021 he is now attending University in Kenya.

The Cornerstone Project is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation that transforms and sustains marginalized communities by educating, nurturing, and empowering their most vulnerable members. Founded in 2008, the foundation is a primary benefactor the Nambale Magnet School in Western Kenya which provides education, shelter, and support for AIDS orphans and other vulnerable children.
