June 14, 2020 - The Cornerstone Project’s mission is the empowerment of marginalized communities. Thus, we feel compelled to speak out in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Right here in our own backyards there are populations that are marginalized by white privilege. It has been as systematic here as it has been in other areas of the world where one group holds its knee to the neck of another in order to maintain their own supremacy. This should never be tolerated and in an attempt to be part of the change, part of the solution if you will, we will speak truth to that power as we see it.
We have been called to recognize it, feel uncomfortable about it, and to call it out.
Overt racism is easy to spot. Systemic racism through policy is more subtle and still deeply ingrained in our culture and practices.
The most subtle and pervasive form of racism we see every day and perhaps have refused to acknowledge because it is not comfortable is white privilege.
All of us need to call out when we see the veil of fuzzy insinuation, the wink and the nod that good people of privilege partake in when they feel they are in their own private “club”. Our collective conscience can no longer suffer the shame of silence.

Founded in 2008, the foundation is a primary benefactor the Nambale Magnet School in Western Kenya which provides education, shelter, and support for AIDS orphans and other vulnerable children.
