Borehole Well, Grey Water Recycling & Irrigation
A massive drought has created food shortages in addition to a water shortage that caused operating expenses for the school to go through the roof. Water insecurity is unimaginable to first world countries but a harsh reality in many parts of Africa. Water has become the gold standard in most third world countries. For this reason, Rotary international decided to make water projects on its list of global priorities and granted Nambale Magnet School $128,000 for a water project which includes a new well, water tower, gray water filtration system and bio-digester ... Waste to Fuel (Biofuel) Biodigester Installation
Thanks to a Rotary International grant we have raised enough money to begin construction on the Nambale Magnet School's biodigester. It will handle waste from the animals and humans effectively which will greatly assist the school in waste disposal and management. It will also be a source of methane gas (biofuel), which will be tapped to the kitchen and thus save cost... [ more ]

Internet Booster Mast Antenna (WiFi) Installation
Martine Nolletti, the Chairman of the Cornerstone Project, made a site visit to the Nambale Magnet School in May and discovered that the Internet connection was so sporadic that a transaction or communication over the internet could be next to impossible to complete. The internet connection is so unreliable in this rural area and can be down for days at a time. The difficulties communicating have a serious impact on the schools operations... [ more ]

Electrical Generator Installation
Through the generous gifts of some repeat donors, we were able to fund at long last a generator for the School. With infrastructure in the region fragile and power outages a common occurrence, this generator has been on the wish list since the schools inception.Cornerstone Project was able to assure that the lights will stay on and learning will not be interrupted... Roof Rainwater Collection System
In order for the school to be functional as a boarding facility for orphaned children, the school needed a steady reliable way of providing water to the school via rainwater collection. In the interest of ecological sustainability, it was decided to harvest rainwater, store it in cisterns and pump it to a storage tank where it would be sand filtered. This solution provides the school with clean water through the dry season... [ more ]

Sand Filtration System
We were able to connect with a man from Seattle, Washington who travels the world installing inexpensive and efficient sand filtration systems which purify fresh rain water and run off providing clean, potable drinking water to communities.
