NMS Takes Precaution Against the Coronavirus Threat

March 17, 2020 - Since the Coronavirus started making headlines, the Nambale Magnet School has been vigilant about the threat. Our School nurse took the NMS staff through an exercise of mitigating the threat of COVID-19; she emphasized regular hand washing, sanitizing all places, distancing self and created awareness of what to do in the event of a suspected case. Yesterday, following the Government's directive, we released all learners to go back home for a period yet to be announced. Partnering with Kappa Delta Pi

Rotary International Water Project Approved!

October 18, 2019 - We are so grateful that the Rotary International water grant has been approved! Global warming created a very serious drought emergency this year in Nambale. Even as water was becoming an issue due to the growth of the school and the school farm, the rains just stopped. The children had to go to the river to collect water in order to meet the most basic water needs. [ more ]


Autumn Celebration Benefits Nambale Magnet School Plans

Sat Nam Foundation Provides Solar Enery for School

September 6, 2019 - A group representing the Sat Nam Foundation performed a week of fellowship and service at NMS. Through their fund raising efforts, they were able to raise enough to supply the school with a solar energy system that will be constructed in early 2020. This is an ecological win and will bring operating costs down significantly while offering a more reliable source of electricity ... Celebrating 10 Years!

It's the School's 10 year anniversary and the event was commemorated by a walk through the streets of Nambale. This event was designed to involve the community, spread good will, and allow the students to show their school spirit as they have ranked #1 again, this time for the entire Busia County! [ more ]


Friends of Football International Sports Equipment Grant

June 15, 2019 - The Friends of Football International granted the Nambale Magnet School the gift of new sports equipment for the students. The sports equipment was presented during sports day and was extremely well received. Outdoor activities are an integral part of the School's daily activities. [ more ]


Cornerstone Project 2018 | A Year in Review

January 24, 2019 - It was our most successful year in terms of fundraising to date raising over $228,000 towards the Nambale Magnet School. Thanks to the approval of a long awaited sanitation grant from Rotary International including a full cycle water system and waste to fuel biodigester. [ more ]


Third 8th Grade Class Graduates with Flying Colors!

My Trip to the Nambale Magnet School in Western Kenya

July 2, 2018 - In May I made a trip to the Nambale Magnet School with two teaching interns, Lizzie and Colleen. It was a pleasure to see the school in action and to see how happy and motivated the children seemed to be. The school bustled with activity and the teachers and staff had everything well in hand.
